About Intoart

Into Art is a supported studio working with people with learning disabilities in Peckham, South East London. It has been running for 22 years and has built relationships with artists over that long period of time.

Their stated vision ‘is for people with learning disabilities to be visible, equal and established artists. Intoart’s artistic programme creates opportunities for production, leadership and audience engagement.’

About the Exhibition

An Octopus with Boomerangs is the first ever Intoart Collection exhibition. This exhibition gave an insight into the stunning work their artists make and how well supported with high quality materials and expert technical help they clearly are.

On display were drawings, ceramics, textiles, screenprints, monoprints, paintings and work with their recently formed interior design offshoot ‘Trifle’ Studio making wallpapers, upholstery fabrics and other homewares. Aside from the high quality of the artworks themselves, it was great to see the impressive array of tote bags, cards, prints, t-shirts and other products sold to sustain the studio and its community, and the joy visible in the IntoArt artists and team.

The exhibition of works was on display at Copeland Gallery, Peckham from 30th June to 3rd July 2022.
